The pictures below are of an actual wedding and show the highlights of a typical wedding day. However, I am anythng but typical, my way of photography is to listen first and match exactly what you need and prefer. I can change my style and method of working so that you feel it is your wedding, planned by you. Not a blue-print that I follow for every wedding I shoot. I do have a style thogh, it is classically brilliant photography in any setting.

The Preparations

The preparations are an important part of the wedding story. Capturing the day in miniature pieces I am making memories because the day will pass a heartbeat. I capture the Bridesmaids, they are normally the first ones ready and are helping the Bride.




As the Bride prepares, hair, make-up, the fastening of the Dress, coming downstairs and out of the house. Each one a reminder of the events as they happened, the laughs with those who are helping with the preparations for the big day.

Leaving Home

This part is where emotions run high and there is a special bond forged between the Bride and the person giving her away. Be it a Dad, Mom, older Brother or whoever was chosen, you will both remember this moment for ever.





Some really nice shots outside the house and then with the car, gorgeous portrait shots of the Bride, group photographs of the Bride and person giving her away, Bride and parents, Bride and bridesmaids.

The Arrival

I love this part of the day. The arrival of the bride is eagerly awaited by those who have not entered the church or venue yet hoping to catch an early glimpse of the dress before taking their seats. I try to capture the whole atmosphere the people around saying how gorgeous the bride looks, the Bride in the car and beside it as she steps out and with the person giving her away.



The last nervous look between the Bride and the person giving her away as they prepare to enter the church. The Chief Bridesmaid is usual fussing away to ensure the dress and train are just perfect and then the final steps through the door to meet the awaiting groom.

The Ceremony

The Church, Registry Office or Civil Venue determines what can be photographed during the service. I ensure that get the best photos possible, covering the whole ceremony, the Groom gazing on his Bride in her dress for the first time and the iconic moments, the giving away of the Bride, exchanging of rings, the blessing and the first kiss.

 

Finishing off with the signing of the register and that walk down the aisle which is full of emotion, smiles as the Bride & Groom realise what has just happened - they are now Husband & Wife.

After The Ceremony


Now the fun can start, I will capture the emotions of relief and happiness that you feel while accepting the congratulations of your guests, I will be working in the background to organise the formal shots that have discussed liaising with the Best Man and Chief Bridesmaid to organise those needed for these photographs. I usually start with a picture of everybody as a group and then just keep those who are to be included in the formal shots nearby. I will often take main Wedding party to one side finding the most picturesque location within the Church or Venue.


At this time I will do a range of photographs that capture the Bride and Groom and all those people who are special to them and have been chosen as Bridesmaids and Groomsmen.


I will take some really nice romantic images of the Bride and Groom separately and together. These moments will be cherished eternally as they will show your love and happiness. These photographs are all done very smoothly and professionally and with a nice sense of humour to keep things flowing. They take no time at all and you are soon departing for or moving into the reception.


Throughout the whole day, I will be taking candid photographs of anything and everything that happens. Lovely glimpses of somethings that may have been missed otherwise, images that will fill in every details of the day

The Wedding Breakfast / Reception

The Speeches

Usually before the reception gets under way, I ask the Bride & Groom to pose for a staged shot of cutting the cake. The reason being that later on in the evening when the cake is cut in front of the guests there is too much going on around them to get a professional looking photo. At this time the lighting is often quite dark too making it harder still.



The speeches are often the hightlight of the Wedding Meal. Humourous, serious and emotional all rolled into one. I always try to capture the main part of each speech but also the reaction of the Bride, Groom and others at the top table as these too form an important part of the day.

During The Meal

During the meal I usually keep out of the way while everyone enjoys eating theiir food and chatting. I use this time to double check the photos I have taken so far. I also backup the images so that they are safe. Maybe change to a clean memory card. I often use this time to take images of the venue, guest book, decorations etc.



I may also take a few pictures of the room without getting too close to the guests. These fill in photos will make up the complete story of your day and although may never appear in your album will be available in a slide show along with every other image taken on the day.

the first dance & evening celebrations


The first dance is usually the last formal task of the day for the Bride & Groom and is also an ice-breaker for the guests, their chance to join in the dancing and to congratulate the happy couple again.

 





Once the dance is coming towards the end, I get the chance to capture the sheer relief and emotion. It seems like an invisible switch is thrown and the party begins.


I try to cover as many different views and expressions as I can during this dance.

It allows me to capture the feeling and emotion which is always a stress-releasing moment, emotional then happy and carefree.




The only thing left to do is the cutting of the cake and the all-important throwing of the bouquet.

Portraits

I love to photograph all sorts of portraits. Whether it's a more formal portrait in the studio or fun studio shoot with some music and wine flowing, through to family groups and children. I also enjoy location shoots where I take my cameras, reflectors and some portable lights if needed to capture stunning portraits in beautiful places. Bring along as many outfits as you like, I will match the lighting style and background to suit what you are wearing.

Studio Shots

Using my portable studio, I can capture High Quality Studio images with various lighting effects to create stunning professional images that would grace any wall. These images are top quality fashion or head shots that would not look out of place in a magazine. The shoot will be full of fun and very enjoyable for all concerned. We have our own Make-Up artist and Hair-Stylist for that special look and feel (see below for prices).

Location Work

Being on location does not mean that the quality of the images will be compromised, often, the reverse is true.

Location shoots add a certain quality to a portrait and can include as much or as little of the environment as we like.

A variety of shots will be taken for clients to choose from.

Children's Portraits

Capturing a child or children in the perfect pose/expression can often be difficult but we always get there in the end. The resulting images produced with the help of parents are just beautiful.

Family Groups

When you want a family portrait we can offer a studio shoot, a location shoot or a combination of both. We take a range of images including several individual portraits and family groups and we encourage a change of clothing and styles as the shoot progresses.

Viewing your images

Whether you have had a Wedding, Portrait, Make-Over or other type of photography, ordering the final images follows the same pattern.

I put all of the images taken on the day into an online preview page so that clients can look through them and choose which images they like.

I will edit the selected images to ensure that they ae looking fantastic. Then I will show the edited images for final selection. The accepted images can be ordered in a variety finishes including Traditional Photo Albums, Printed Coffee Table Books, Large Framed Prints, Canvas Prints, Metallic or Acrylic Prints. The price varies with the size and finish requested.

I can also provide smaller copies of printed books or albums for parents, grandparents and Bridesmaids/Best Man

Kyla (Child Photoshoot)

My daughter Kyla had a photo shoot when she was around 2 weeks old, very friendly and welcoming, there was no no rushing it was all done at comfortable pace allowing for when she needed feeding. We were able to change outfits and lots of different props were used within the photo shoot and the pictures came out amazing. I was shown the pictures the same day to see which ones where my favourite. The pictures were touched up to make the most of the lighting and had some beautiful effects on them, highly recommend and reasonably priced.
